Cold Drawing

A metalworking process where a tube or pipe is pulled through a die at room temperature to reduce its diameter and wall thickness while improving surface finish, dimensional accuracy, and mechanical properties.

Cold Drawing Process

Cold drawing is a precision metal forming process performed at room temperature. A hollow tube is pulled through a die (and over a mandrel or plug) to achieve tighter dimensional tolerances, improved surface finish, and enhanced mechanical properties through work hardening.

Advantages

  • Tighter dimensional tolerances (±0.1mm)
  • Superior surface finish (Ra < 0.8μm achievable)
  • Improved mechanical properties
  • Better concentricity
